We are looking for a cheerful, energetic experienced residential special needs nanny to assist with the care of our 14 year old daughter with physical disabilities

Potential candidates must have previous experience working as a special needs nanny with excellent references. Full clean driving licence, own car, non smoker, fluent English, DBS checked, first aid, IT skills

Our daughter is a happy and very determined young girl with a good sense of humour, who strives to achieve as much as she can despite her disabilities. Although she is physically disabled, she is cognitively able, and attends a mainstream secondary school. She uses a wheelchair, standing frame, walker and hoist and is learning to drive an electric wheelchair with adapted controls. She communicates using an eye gaze communication system, which also enables her to access her school curriculum, homework, email and the internet

You will be a companion to her, accompanying her to local leisure activities as well as attending to her personal care needs, (dressing, feeding and taking her to the toilet). Training will be given to carry out her home physiotherapy programme, manual handling techniques and development of independence skills

She really enjoys adapted sport and is a real thrill seeker. Currently she regularly participates in swimming, sit skiing, sailing and bowling. She also loves reading, films and shopping trips. You will have to be willing and able to organise and accompany her in these activities as well as being enthusiastic in initiating new hobbies

During term time when she is at school 7 hours of light house keeping duties will be required

Normal hours of work will be an average of 40 hours per week over 5 days, hours will be annualised as less hours will be needed in term time and more in school holidays. Must be flexible on working hours and days. In addition some evening babysitting will be required, housesitting and travel abroad

There is an opportunity for 2 days work a week for a Gardener/Handyman

A 2 bedroom furnished, recently refurbished cottage will be provided

A specially adapted vehicle is available for work use, so will need to be a confident driver
